Summary

To save a whole web page as an image in Chrome, install the free ClickSnap extension, press Alt+Shift+F (Option+Shift+F on a Mac), then export as PNG, JPG or WebP. Without an extension, open DevTools, press Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+P and run “Capture full size screenshot”. Use PNG for text and interfaces, JPG for photo-heavy pages.

The quick answer

  1. Install ClickSnap and pin it.
  2. Open the page and press `Alt + Shift + F` (`Option + Shift + F` on a Mac).
  3. In the editor, choose Export and pick PNG, JPG or WebP.

ClickSnap scrolls the page for you and hides sticky headers after the first screen, so the header appears once instead of on every section.

Without installing anything

Chrome DevTools: press `Ctrl + Shift + I` (`Cmd + Option + I` on a Mac), then `Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + P`, type full size screenshot and press Enter. Chrome saves a PNG to Downloads.

Microsoft Edge: press `Ctrl + Shift + S` and choose Capture full page.

Both work for a one-off, but sticky headers and lazy-loaded images can come out wrong, and you can’t annotate.

PNG, JPG or WebP?

FormatBest forNotes
PNGText, code, interfacesLossless, so text stays sharp. Larger files.
JPGPhoto-heavy pagesSmaller files; adjustable quality. Text edges can get fuzzy.
WebPSharing on the webUsually smaller than both at similar quality.

If you’re not sure, choose PNG.

Tips

  • Need it sharper? Export at 2× in ClickSnap’s export options.
  • Very long pages: images are limited to 16,384 pixels per side, so extremely tall pages are shown scaled down. Export → “Very long page” saves them at full resolution as several images or one PDF.
  • Need a document instead? See how to save a web page as a PDF.
