How to Save a Full Web Page Screenshot as a PDF in Chrome
When “Print to PDF” breaks the layout, a screenshot PDF keeps the page exactly as it looks.

To save a web page as a PDF that looks exactly like the screen, capture it with ClickSnap (Alt+Shift+F), then choose Export and PDF. The PDF is one page sized to the screenshot. Chrome’s Print to PDF (Ctrl/Cmd+P) is better when you need selectable text, but it often changes the layout.
Screenshot PDF vs Print to PDF
| Screenshot PDF (ClickSnap) | Print to PDF (Chrome) | |
|---|---|---|
| Looks like the screen | Yes, exactly | Often reflowed for paper |
| Backgrounds and colours | Kept | Often removed |
| Selectable text | No (it’s an image) | Yes |
| Pages | One tall page | Split into A4/Letter pages |
Use a screenshot PDF for design reviews, records of how a page looked, and sharing with people who just need to see it. Use Print to PDF when someone needs to search or copy the text.
How to do it
- Install ClickSnap and pin it.
- Press `Alt + Shift + F` (`Option + Shift + F` on a Mac) on the page.
- Optionally add arrows, numbered steps or blur.
- Click Export, choose PDF and save.
The PDF is a single page sized to the screenshot, so nothing is cut at page breaks.
Tips
- To mark up the PDF for a review, annotate before exporting.
- For a smaller file, export at 1× rather than 2×.
- For an image instead of a PDF, see how to save a web page as an image.
