How to Copy a Screenshot to the Clipboard in Chrome
Skip the Downloads folder: capture, then paste straight into Slack, Docs, Jira or email.

To copy a screenshot to the clipboard in Chrome with ClickSnap, capture it (Alt+Shift+F for the full page, Alt+Shift+A for an area) and click Copy in the editor, then paste with Ctrl+V or Cmd+V. Turn on “Auto-Copy to Clipboard” in ClickSnap’s settings to skip the click. Built-in: Win+Shift+S on Windows, Cmd+Ctrl+Shift+4 on a Mac.
With ClickSnap
- Capture: `Alt + Shift + F` (full page), `Alt + Shift + A` (area) or `Alt + Shift + V` (visible area). On a Mac, use Option instead of Alt.
- Click Copy in the editor.
- Paste anywhere with `Ctrl + V` (`Cmd + V` on a Mac).
If you haven’t annotated anything, the copy is instant. With arrows or blur added, ClickSnap copies the edited image.
Even faster: turn on Settings → Auto-Copy to Clipboard, and every capture lands on your clipboard automatically.
Built-in shortcuts that copy
| System | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Windows | `Win + Shift + S`, then pick an area |
| Mac | `Cmd + Ctrl + Shift + 4` (area) or `Cmd + Ctrl + Shift + 3` (screen) |
These copy only what’s on screen, not the whole page.
Where pasting works well
- Slack, Teams, Discord: paste into the message box.
- Google Docs, Notion, Confluence: paste inline.
- Jira, Linear, GitHub issues: paste into the description.
- Gmail and Outlook: paste into the email body.
